The sensor electronic chamber emits a query pulse, which returns to the electronic chamber through a magnetostrictive waveguide wire. The query pulse forms a circular magnetic field in the circuit, which interacts with the magnetic field of the vernier magnetic ring (Weidmann effect), generating a torsional mode ultrasonic guided wave within the waveguide wire. The ultrasonic guided wave has been transmitted at a specific speed along both ends of the waveguide wire. The end of the waveguide wire is damped to absorb the ultrasonic guided wave, and the detection end converts the ultrasonic guided wave into an electrical signal. Based on the transmission time of the ultrasonic guided wave, the absolute position of the vernier magnetic ring can be accurately calculated.
