Powder compacting hydraulic presses are specialized equipment for forming powder materials into components of required shapes. They compact ore powder, metal powder, feed powder and other materials via molds, similar to pressing biscuits in a mold. However, such equipment can deliver pressing force ranging from hundreds to thousands of tons, producing finished parts with uniform density and ultra-high dimensional precision. A powder compacting hydraulic press generally consists of three major assemblies: main machine, hydraulic system and electric control system, interconnected via pipelines and electrical devices to form an integrated unit. Precise displacement measurement is critical for qualified products manufactured by powder compacting presses. Through non-contact measurement of the propagation time of magnetostrictive waves within the waveguide wire, the sensor measures the downward and return positions of the hydraulic cylinder piston rod in real time and accurately. Its maximum resolution reaches 0.1 μm, enabling capture of micrometer-scale displacement variations. Displacement data is transmitted to the control system continuously. Once displacement deviation from the set value is detected, the system immediately adjusts the pressure and speed of the hydraulic system to ensure consistent precision for every pressing cycle, thereby guaranteeing reliable operation of the powder compacting hydraulic press.
